Hey guys. I just have a question. I recently retook a science class to replace a c+ I originally had. Different professor and class ended super well. Prof and I had lot of positive interaction. I've pondered on the idea of asking her for a letter but I hesitate because this class essentially was a retake. I know she could write strongly about me as a person but again...it was a retake. What are your opinions on this? Thank you.

Thanks for your quick reply Goro. Much appreciated.

I used a LOR from a retake class, at a community college no less (C- first try, A retake). I didn't have access to reading the letter, but a school that admitted me told me it was very strongly positive - I credit this professor in no small part for my multiple acceptances! If you think it will be a good letter, take it and run.

That's fantastic. Congrats on your acceptances. Appreciate your input.

I retook cell Bio from a d to a-. One of the few a's in an upper division bio class. Should you tell her it was a retake

Somebody I know had retaken a class and the professor forwarded them the LOR and allowed them to add anything they needed. Professor was pretty chill about it. They got in this cycle as well so it worked well for them. Can work well for you too. LOR is just a convenience if anything.

Yea she agreed but she Told me I will have a very hard time getting into a school with my 3.1 ish GPA and with retake classes. She said med schools want to put you up for success and to not put all my eggs in one basket .

When I talked to an admissions counselor for a DO SCHOOLS she said to retake these classes and the mcat for the third time- get a high score and I will be fine.

Why am I applying if I have no hope . Some days I do and som days I don't:/ don't know what to do anymore. I'm retaking Ochem and biochem righ now, is it worth it:/

Lol no offense... but she doesn't know ****. Let her stick to teaching.
Ace your retakes, bring that GPA up past 3.4/3.5, and do above average on your MCAT, get a DO lor, get some meaningful experience and apply early.

You will get in somewhere if you apply everywhere.

There is always hope. It's about how bad do you want it. Med school isn't going anywhere. Until then, you need to get your **** together and go hard.
Ain't gonna do anything by being getting down on yourself. Move on and work harder. Thousands of people do this every year... it's not impossible. You can be one of the thousands next application cycle depending how hard you work now. Go get it.

Get the retakes and MCAT score done and then we will better know if you are wasting time.
