Received an interview at NYCPM!

I received an interview for the January 2012 entering semester!
Any advice in terms of anything? I'm nervous already.

I didn't set one up yet... hehe but I called them and they said I can schedule it at anytime. I'm trying to find good deals on plane tickets as we speak 🙂 Yours is in July? I was thinking about setting mine up in July as well 😀

If you are looking for cheap tickets remember that American Airlines flights aren't listed on orbitz(unless that's changed) and often they are the cheapest flights to major cities. EDIT: Just looked, they are on orbitz now so never mind. Good luck though 🙂

Don't Stress! It is a very low key process. Have all your paperwork in, dress nicely, get a good night's sleep, and just try to enjoy the process. Remember, you're interviewing the school just as much as they're interviewing you. No one is out to break you, just to see if you're a good fit for the school, just as much as you are there to see if the school fits you.

Since I am able to schedule the interview on any date... does that mean I will be the only one they interview that day? Will they actually give me the whole tour/interview experience if I'm the only one there? For example, I know for dental schools... most schools have about 15 to 40 people interview on the same day.

Yes. They accommodate you. If you're the only one, that's fine. When I interviewed it was with only one other person. To be fair, when I interviewed at Barry I was the only person. Fitting in an interview for January, especially this early allows for flexibility.

BTW, anyone know how safe the area is in and around NYCPM???? This is very important to me. I'm a petite asian female and I don't want to go to school in constant fear for four years.

Well the school is in Harlem which is notorious for not being completely safe but when I interviewed there I felt very safe. It is only a 5 to 10 minute walk from the subway. I would equate it to living in any other big city, there are obviously risks but if you take the proper precautions you should be fine. Manhattan is so expensive to live in now a days that most middle class people are moving out of it into the burrows including Harlem, it is definitely on an upswing!

Agreed. I believe (too lazy to look 🙂 ) there is an annual incident report section posted on the website if you take a look. To my knowledge there have been no issues in the past several years. There are plenty of weirdos in Harlem, but they generally ignore you if you ignore them. I also know that no students (and there are petite asian females in my class) have had any scary moments yet.

hahaha it's tough being a woman 😀 I'm so glad I didn't have to go through that trouble.
