When was everything submitted? How were you contacted? Were you contacted before the notice of the interview or it was just right away an invite to interview?

Whoa, congrats! I hope to hear from schools soon.... 🙁 I want one already!

hmm im not buyin it, i applied there too. what did the email say?

Hey! I'm sooooo excited!

It was NOT an email or phone call I got. I've been checking the application status on their website for some time now. Today, I decided to log into my account again at Midwestern (the account where you submit your supplementary application). There it was.... a button that said "SCHEDULE YOUR INTERVIEW." I thought it was some kind of joke or something, so I called the admission people to confirm that I'm seeing it right. They said I was correct and I was invited to schedule an interview. I guess they didn't email or make phone calls yet.

Anyway... I submitted my application June 2. My stuff was mailed out in the first batch. I completed my secondary applications as soon as I got it (for this school).

It is for the AZ one.

THANK YOU!! 🙂 I'm thrilled that my DAT and BCP scores didn't scare them away 🙂

congrats my friend! i think this is the first interview this cycle!

congrats! I wish you many more interviews!

I called Midwestern for you and said

"Yes, I'm calling in behalf of the 23AA applicant and was wondering why we did not receive the first invite."

She seemed very apologetic and assured me that we should not worry, the interview was merely a formality and that they would get in contact with your secretary soon to let you know when the private jet would pick you up.

No need to fret.

Ps Go ahead and add your interview date along with submission date to the interview/acceptance thread

Congrats!
I went to the school for interview last year.
That's a nice school! Even w/ a lot of improvement on my app from the last year, I'd still love to get in there.
Best luck!!

Congrats...now please don't make a post for every subsequent one.

Thank you, evanyou! 🙂

Do you have any interview advice for me?? I looked over SDN interview feedback but I am still sooo nervous! 😳 For me, it's intimidating that they interview 500 applicants for 112 seats 😱

I'm shy 🙁

Congrats! Benefit of being in the first batch. Be confident and good luck with your interview!

Thanks everyone! 🙂

Some say numbers are everything, but I beg to defer! If I had told schools I might retake the DAT in September, I probably wouldn't have gotten this interview. Had I waited for my summer grades to increase my BCP above 3.0.... I might have not gotten this interview.

Anything in your extracurriculars or life story that may have made you stand out? Now don't forget there are a lot of people that read sdn.

Thanks, I'll try not to say too much to protect my identity 🙂 But umm... I don't think so? My ECs are pretty similar to a lot of applicants (volunteering and shadowing are all pretty standard). Life story? Some hardships here and there... otherwise my life is pretty normal 🙂 I'm a traditional applicant... younger than 24... about to graduate..

congrats. It's a really nice school and I was going to go there (c/o 2015) if I hadn't gotten into my state school.
one word of advice. The breakfast is pretty awesome so dig in. The lunch was less impressive.

Man no offense, but how did someone with bad stats like you get an interview before me??

its called rolling admissions if they like you they give you an interview. Plus mostly likely more than 200 people who get accepted into Midwestern dont attend their program. Plus you wont get interview every single school that you apply to no matter how good your stats are.

Upward trend...something like close to straight A's the last 2 years or 1 year of straight A's right before you reply.

Happens to a lot of people who are dedicated 👍 or sometimes it's luck :luck:

Wow you are not a very nice person. First a racist comment in another thread and now this? You need to learn some tact.

if you think a number will get you in dental school then thats why you didnt get an interview

Congrats Nguyen!

Ignore that haters. I can tell from your posts that you have a positive and helpful personality which are very valuable traits to have. Maybe even more so than beefy stats.

Good luck at your interview!

Heheh thanks everyone! 🙂 It's okay, I had a good chuckle. Haters will be haters 😉 Good luck everyone!

The interview at Midwestern was the most chill out of all of my interviews. It ended up being my second choice. I was soooo close to accepting their invite. A good buddy of mine decided to go their.

The interview went very smooth. Last year (and I assume they will probably continue) they did an "closed file" interview. Basically, they know very little about you; they don't even know your stats. They have a professor and student that interview you together and ask you some fairly simple questions. They want to see how sincere you are and how good you are at expressing yourself. Each person asks different questions and you can find them in interview feedback, so I don't feel bad sharing what they asked me.

"If money or travel time were not an issue, where would you take a trip for 24 hrs and who would you take with you."

"What is your biggest regret in life."

Really, they are looking for sincerity. Last thing, please dress classy!!! There were a few girls there that were wearing low skirts and blouses and when they crossed their legs or bent over, they revealed a little too much! Also, some of the guys didn't even wear suits and their dress pants were wrinkled and they were not well groomed. I really do not recommend for anyone to do this at an interview. Congrats and good luck!

Aww, thanks for the very helpful information! 🙂 I've been very nervous about this interview since day 1, even though my interview isn't until September 😳 And thanks for clarifying what to wear! I've been debating what to wear and whether or not my skirt/suit I have now would be too short. Now I definitely know I'm not going to take that risk and just buy a new suit 😀 You think beige is an acceptable color?

Yeah, I think it would be great. My wife says that some accent colors like a green or red (she says depending on your skin tone) and closed toed shoes would go great. I used this article to help me know what would be best to wear.

Good luck on your interview Nguyen! They're interested, now that admission yours to loose.

(lol btw...if you get into and end up going to midwestern you need to change your username to NguyenDMD 😀)

lol Thank you!
You're right, I'd be a DMD instead of a DDS!! 😱 😛
