Anyone admitted to Texas Southern within the last year or so? What was the avg. GPA? I am interested in the school but it just says "3.0". They publish the same statistic for their law school and it is lower than that. Just thought I would check to see if anyone might know. Thanks.

You shouldn't waste your time or money applying to TSU.

Just my .02

What u mean by waste time and money?? I heard many ppl say that the Pharm program of TSU is one of the best program in US. Isn't it true? I know that there are so many black ppl here, but besides that, is there anything wrong with this school?

With the passing rate of the NABPLEX being somewhere below the 75% makes me question it being "one of the best programs". There's also something about the fact they've had major academic integrity issues involving their students. Has absolutely nothing to do with the makeup of the student body as far as ethnic background goes, so don't try to turn this into a racial argument. I know several graduates who regret they ever went there b/c when they sat for boards, they knew nothing and had to take it on more than one occassion. I have a couple of friends that go there that say they made a huge mistake academically. Lastly, Houston hospitals won't even want to look at your application if you're a TSU graduate b/c they know the reputation of the school.
Again, everyone is entitled to their opinion (this is mine) and I suggest everyone does research on the schools they are applying to (whether it's TSU or any other school). This is going to be the next 4 years of your professional life and I think it's important for applicants to be aware of what they are getting into.

I think everyone thinks their own program is the best in the country...

if you look at these stats for the entering class of 2003, it doesn't say 3.0, it's 3.32, and the application to enrollment ratio was 4:1. 2003 AACP stats

BTW, Aggies622 was already warned of the problems at TSU last year (http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=81902&highlight=Texas+Southern) For whatever reason, he's still interested.

once again, I'm confused, bb. 😕 you seem to be inserting random lines in threads lately.

To whom is this directed, and where in this thread is anything said about one school being better than another? Emogrrrrl never said TX Tech is better than TSU; she was only sharing her opinion of TSU.

I don't think my school is the best in the country....I think it's the best program for me.

i'm not concerned about race or background or wut, just b/c many ppl say that they dun wanna go to TSU b/c there are so many black ppl. Therefore, i'm surprised bout that. Uhm, anyway, thx for sharing us these information. I 'll consider carefully b4 applying for any school.

its not directed at anyone inparticular. i was meerely stating that the source of a top school may be biased.

And actually when i read her (baby_ghost's) comment i thought she had "heard" it was a top school, better school, etc.
😉

PPle say TSU has one of the best pgm in the country. So i say it is a good school. With the icreasing rate of pharm applicant esp in TEXAS (only 4 schools) to get in. Heck i would be happy to get in anywhere for those who are not looking to get out of state.Furthermore it is the same curriculum any school you go to in USA.Every pharmd pgm have to cover same topics for you to be a able to graduate.

Actually, Texas A&M - Kingsville is opening a new school in 2005. In 2006 the Univ of the Incarnate Word - San Antonio will open and possibly the Univ of North Texas - Ft. Worth as well. This will bring the total number of Texas pharmacy schools to 7.

Yeah, I've heard the same about TSU. Don't waste your time applying. Employers don't seem to look to highly of TSU graduates.

hihi, thx u guys for telling me that. As i only came to this country like 5 months ago, i dunno much about this. 🙂 It'll be suck after spending years working hard and then they ( the employers) won't even look at my application.
