I recently completed my last elective at Ross and matched into top choice specialty at my number 1 rank program and location. This forum has helped me tremendously through out the years so I want to give back and try to answer some questions from prospective students who might be interested in attending Ross or current students. A little something about myself, I'm a nontraditional student prior to attending Ross. I applied to US school 2x but was unsuccessful. Took out a year for the MBS did decent on it with 3.8 overall GPA, took the MCAT 3x scoring 501, 502 and 503 lol. I applied to DO school the 3rd time around didn't receive any love so I ended up attending Ross. While at Ross I got an interview from a DO school and end up getting waitlisted which turn into an acceptance toward the end of my 2nd semester but my wife want me to stay with Ross since it allow me to do clinical close to home.

Personally, I'm grateful for the opportunity Ross provided me but I would want to warn all students interested to at least exhaust all option before coming here. I've met a lot of bright students with great GPA and MCAT who fail one cycle then decided to come here and ended up failing out. I started in the Fall semester and there were 390 students but many either didn't make the cut and got kicked out between first and second semester or if they do make it past basic science they can't pass COMP an exam we take first before sitting for Step 1. Don't expect to graduate on time either because this step will delay you for at least a year. Most students I met during clinical rotation started med school a year or more before me and I think we have 15-20% on time graduation rate at Ross too because of the all hurdle students need to overcome (COMP).

As for the idea that Caribbean school specifically Ross actively trying to fail student out to make money isn't true in my personal experience. During my time with Ross I didn't really rely on the admins or any support since Ross doesn't have mandatory attendance I just kept my head down and study at home. The quality of professors are a hit or miss, but most seem to actively care and want students to succeed. They host group tutoring sessions and allow students to schedule one-on-one meeting if students need more help. As for clinical, I did all my core rotation at one hospital as well as some electives.

Island life was very nice and quiet, Barbadians are super friendly but not too much of a fan of the food there. I was too scare to fail out so I didn't explore much of what Barbados has to offer so I can't say much on it.

Welp, if I missed anything feel free to ask.
