I know that most people apply to a large number of schools for medical school, some even 20+. When asking for letters of recommendation, how would you ask for such a large number of letters from one person? How should you approach this without just being like "Could you please write me 20 recommendation letters?"

you just need one copy for amcas letter service. there are other popular letter services that i don't recall (veCollect) where i think again it's just one copy needed. they'll send out copies to whoever needs them. 10 or 20.

You only need 3-4 letters then you send them to AMCAS, then AMCAS sends all set of letters to each school you apply too.

So you just only need at the most 5 letters or less. (2 from science faculty, 1 from physician and the others are up to you.)
