recommendations for an 11th grader in a foreign school

I am in 11th grade in a school in Qatar following the Indian curriculum ( CBSE ) and I have maintained a 10.0 (highest) CGPA which is equivalent to american GPA, but we don't have anything like AP classes.
Students here start their preparation for NEET examinations now itself, that is THE examination in which we need to get a good rank so that we can get accepted into the best colleges for doing MBBS for 5 years and one year of internship. This exam is very competitive since almost everyone joins institutions for coaching so as to receive high marks in this exam.
After MBBS you need to study for clearing the exams so as to get a MD otherwise your degree is virtually useless. This apparently much harder, and many people I know are struggling to pass it.
Anyway, I wanted to do my residency in the US or even my med program in the US, so I wanted to know how I should proceed from here, that is 11th grade in an Indian high school. Should I study for the SAT II biology and get into a pre-med program in the US and then continue there or are there other options including India?

Hey bud, I'll help you out. I watch the forums a lot so I've gathered a bunch of information, but I'm not as experienced as the other members. So my advice may not be all fact.

Well I've heard that getting into residency from graduating internatonal is very difficult and should be avioded at all costs. I would believe by getting into a US college first then pursuing your path would be the best option. Now ,myself, I didn't even take the SAT to get into school (military and I was 5 years out of high school when I enrolled) so I can't tell you much on that, but the pre-med program is just a title and does not require any testing to get into at any college.

The main question for you is, do you want to practice in America or India? If so on America, take college here then and start knocking out your pre-reqs for medical schools.

mmmc is correct, if you plan to eventually become a physician in the US then the earlier you can get into the pipeline the better. It becomes progressively harder the further along you can you. i.e. it's harder to get into residency as a foreign medical grad, harder to get into med school as a foreign college grad etc. However, you should be able to find a college that will take you!

Hint: private universities (ie not state funded) tend to be free to admit more foreign students. Examples are Stanford, USC, U Miami, etc
