This semester, I have class only two days per week, and am trying to put my free time to good use. I'm working through my school's pre-health office (unfortunately things are moving slowly. I figured I would post an inquiry here as well, in case anyone local had a positive experience somewhere.

Thanks so much in advance!

Not from LA, but I have had success finding good volunteering opportunities using volunteer match. I just searched LA and there are a ton of good ones that show up. Find something that interests you and go for it!

Scribing is a nice way to work/shadow. If you’re looking for volunteering, I’d recommend volunteering at a local hospital like LAC+USC. There is a clinical volunteering program through a company called COPE Health Scholars, that is pretty unique and is available at multiple hospital locations, but the downside is that you have to pay like ~$200 for all of the training.

UCLA has volunteer programs at its hospitals: Volunteer Services, Los Angeles, CA

I did it years ago so idk what it's like these days. I thought it was a good experience, nothing tremendously exciting but was good for getting exposure to the hospital environment. I think experience would probably depend a lot on what unit you're placed in.
