Quick question guys. Finals ended a week ago and I just found out that I got a C in Calc 2. I made a few stupid mistakes on the final. I was originally only planning on taking calc 2 but now that I have a C, I am planning on retaking calc 2 and shooting for an A in calc 3 as well. Although I got a C the first time I took calc 2, the fact that I will get an A when I retake it and get an A in calc 3, which is not a required course, will make up for it, right? I know that there is no excuse for a C, but I am a freshman and the quarter system is pretty darn fast in comparison to high school.. any input would be appreciated..

I don't think it's necessary to retake calc2 if you have very few other C's on your transcript. And it's definately not necessary to take calc3, which by the way is A LOT harder than calc2. It's got funky partial derivatives, nasty differential eqns, and a bunch of other stuff that made me ill. If you did take it and pulled off an A, I doubt adcoms would have an awareness of the difficulty to appreciate it. I only took it b/c I was an engineering major, and it was the beginning of why I decided I didn't like engineering.

i agree with the previous post. you dont need to retake it. just get As in your other classes. one C on your transcript wont hurt.

at my university i took an extra calculus classes because i personally liked calculus.

I wouldn't worry too much about the one C. I had plenty of them back in my day.

either way AADSAS counts it so I would just take calc 3 and move on if thats what you want to do. Or just drop math all together and stick with the chem bio ochem biochem courses.

First of all, it wont disappear no matter what. You made some mistakes and it will cost you, but all together I think D-schools won't care for 1 class, just no more C's.
GOOD LUCK
😀😀😀😀😀

I had a C in a biology course and I got into D-school. As long as you keep your GPA high, the one C won't kill you. It never looks good, but you can still get in with it.

All I have to say is derivatives suck! 😡 Fortunately I got into dental school.
