Hello all. I am a somewhat new predent and need help with a recovery plan. Maybe others in my boat can find help too. I am a History Major/Physics Minor and it has always been that way since before I made a decision. However, Physics is not going so well. I love it and it is interesting but I cannot keep up. I recieved a D the first time and will be repeating it with what looks like a C. I have also recieved a B- and a C+ in Biology I and II respectively. I have Chem, O chem and BioChem left. If I ace all 3 my sci average will still be very low. My HIstory classes are going great. I have straight A's but it is starting to bore me as I have found a new love in science. What are we looking at SMP's Another year post-bacc, a hard science masters? I do not have a lot of room for anymore debt than d-school will give me. With those stats, and insane trend, research, and a bomb DAT will I have a shot with out a masters? If I don't will I get into any SMP programs? Come on ya'll! What do we new to do to recover from stupid lower division years? Thanks 🙂

There are a lot of factors that will affect whether or not you will gain admittance into dschool. First off, what is your current GPA and year in school? Since Physics is not going so well for you right now, I don't know if doing a minor in physics is the best idea. Also, what is your science course load each semester? If you're just taking one or two sciences a semester and doing poorly in them, you may want to reconsider your study methods.

The biggest factor will be your DAT scores. Start prepping EARLY. A good DAT AA and PAT can swing a low GPA at most schools. Just remember, your best resource for DAT prep are the lecture classes themselves, review materials only do so much. Reevaluate your study methods, get a tutor, and do whatever you need to do to get the GPA as high as possible all the while prepping hard for the DAT.
