dear sdners,
i applied to med school last app cycle with a 3.5 and a 32 mcat. i got 2 interviews but turned them down because i was pursuing a music career w my band during my sr year and things were going good (lots of shows etc)

the problem is that during my sr year i slacked in my classes and my gpa dropped to a 3.3/3.2 sci because of an F grade in calc. i also got a 'W' in organic lab.

altho im still in the band and things are goin well for now i might have to continue w medicine if things dont pan out. i feel like my experiences as a recording artist have been positive and i would b able to write about them positively, but i rly screwed up my grades.

my question is, how do u think i could recover from my situation of going from a 3.5 to a 3.2 and how can i fix my prereqs? is there any substitute for organic chemistry labs?

are there any paths i can take w/o going back as a post bacc student, maybe carrib or d.o. programs? im just trying to figure out a good recovery plan just incase. thanks!!!

If you didn't pass your orgo lab, you won't meet the prereqs for med school. I don't see you proceeding without a postbacc.

Honestly, medicine is a little odd to hold as a 'backup career', but I hope either the music or the med school works out for you...it's promising that you were able to get interview acceptances!

The chatspeak doesn't really help while you're asking for help, though...
