Few days ago I started my prep for my retake on 4/26. On my first take, I did pathetically horrible on verbal and that's my primary reason for the retake. For my first take, I practiced all of the ek101 and half of the tprh passages. I was doing a verbal FL almost everyday for a month. I didn't do post practice analysis; I only checked my score and that's it.

For my retake I'm intending to redo all of the ek101 and tprh passages with heavy post game analysis to develop some intuition and be able to at least get my timing under control. Doing 3 passages per day will allow me to go through both books in 6 weeks. For the remaining 8 weeks or so I'm planning to focus my attention on AAMC passages (both FL's and the SAP) and supplement that with Kaplan.

I'm wondering if my plan is sound. Will practicing passages that I have already read six months ago affect my learning curve? (from practicing 6 passages so far, I noticed that I remembered nothing about the details or the questions of the passage. However, the passages felt familiar and not so foreign)

I'll be the guy that said he didn't like ek101.

My last three EK tests I scored 12, 14, and 13 respectively. That translated into consistent 8's and 9's on AAMC fl's. I found passages on my real mcat were about two paragraphs longer per passage. I could finish most EK passages in around 6:30. I was exhausted by AAMC material.

I also found some of the EK answer explanations to be laughable at best. It seemed that each test had 2 or 3 answers that were flat out made to trick you.

With that said, I can't say I can recommend any other resource for Vr. I've heard good things about TPR, but haven't tried it myself.

But personally, I wouldn't trust ek's convoluted explanations to strengthen your strategy. Good luck on your retake.

AAMC has Self Assessments and one with a verbal section so you can definitely benefit with that for ones written by the AAMC themselves. Besides that, not sure what to recommend besides EK.

I am redoing EK 101 as well. I started doing TPRH-ICC verbal, which I did last time and it feels like it's the first time I am doing them...My score has not increased at all. Still hovering above 50%.
