Hey guys,

I was wondering if it would be a bad idea for me to go see a prof that taught me (and knows me by name, went to her office hours, etc.) and just blatantly tell her that I am applying to medical school this application cycle, and that I need reference letters from in-faculty professors and was hoping there was something I could do for the remaining school year that would allow you to write me a good reference? - not exactly those words but something like that.
I'm having some trouble coming up with 3 references from profs.

Thank you

No theres nothing wrong with that... Just ask, if she doesn't feel that she can she will let you know.

That sounds like a pretty good way of doing it. When I asked for LORs I said I was applying to med school and needed strong LORs from professors who have gotten to know me. Because of my experiences of XYZ with you I thought you would be a wise choice. Would you be willing to write good letter of recommendation in support of me attending medial school? I like your idea of asking of there is anything you can do to earn it if you haven't already. I wouldn't tell them that they are your last choice though, no one likes to be an after thought.

Yes, you are in the right direction. That's how I got my letter too. Be sure to give your recommenders any documents that might help them with the letter ie: resume, personal statement, transcript, etc.

Just ask every one of your past (recent past) professors. Tell them your name, and that you were in such and such class and that you got an A (hopefully). You will probably get at least 3 to agree, though they probably won't be great LORs if the teacher doesn't know you. Better than nothing though.
