Reference Letter

Hi, I'm heading to 4th yr in my undergraduate and I'm planning to apply for optometry school this yr; however, I have a very hard time finding reference letters from professors... can one give me some advice on how to approach or somehow obtain some letters? since I find it rather hard to get the prof to notice you when you have approx 200+ ppl in your classroom..,. when u actually "talk" to professors.. what's there to say beside asking question? I'm planning to work with a prof for a lab..but that at most can have 1 letter...so...

If you can work for one prof in the fall semester and then organize it so you can work for a different prof in the spring semester ...you could get two then. Also do you need one from an optometrist? I would also talk to profs that u have recieved high grades in, especially from last year. Also are there are any profs that you have taken more than one class with? They are often pretty good about reference letters. You could arrange your classes so that you take a class with a prof u had before and then start talking to him/her more ....then at the end of semester tell her that you need a letter and explain that you have had her before for other classes. hey, i was in a similar situation, i had 450+ students in my bio class. when i asked the prof. for a reccomendation, he said i should ask the lab ta for that class. once i got, it was co-signed. Maybe your professor will do something similar.

Hmm...does reference letters have to be from a PHD professor? what if my classes were taught by a graduate student or some sort?

also, wouldn't a reference letter in the spring semester will too late for admission tho?

i dont think recccomendation letters have to be from professors..if a grad student taiht the class then its ok if you get a letter from him or her. after all, i got a recc from a grad student

i got a letter from the grad student i did research with.. but the PI co-signed it.

I would say it depends on the individual schools. How many people are applying early anywhos?

it depends on the school
for Pacific it indicates that everything should be sent at the same time (although im sure you can send the letters later if necessary), ICO you can send them in later, and same with NEWENCO and SCCO
but they might not give u an interview until they have everything
