Hello all,
I apologize if this question was asked before but I can not seem to find anything in the search engine. Does anyone know if students applying to the professional stage of the Long Island University pharm school have the same chance to get in as the students in the 2nd year preprofessional program? I heard that getting accepted into the 6 yr pharm program in liu does not guarentee acceptance into the professional phase, but does it give you a better chance than others who are applying as transfer students from a different university?
Also, does anyone have any idea what the typical Gpa/pcat is for acceptance into the professional phase of this program?
I would so love any information on this!

Thanks! 😳

to get into LIU you have to run accross L.I.E.

LIU is one of my top choices. I didn't realize it was so impossible to get into! Bummer...

LIU doesnt like tranfers too much...last year they did not take any transfers.
my friend who took prereqs for pharmacy at LIU and he got in with like a 50-60% pcat and like a 3.1-3.2 gpa...
but now what i hear is that its getting even harder
they do give preference to their own students but i heard they take a lot of freshmen but almost half of them get cut when entering the professional program(i heard this from someone so u might want to make sure this is the case and not just a rumor)

when u find out plz let me know...🙂

All I heard from a few 2nd year students there was that they take many more freshman than there is room for in the professional program, so many do not get in. I also heard that all the LIU 2nd year students must take the PCAT as well. Thats all I know.
However, if you guys look, LIU is on pharmcas, and it says they are taking 10 transfers...so I don't know how definite that number is but at least they are taking some transfers! (They would not go through the whole pharmcas hassle if they were not going to take anyone into the program).

I just wanted to know how much of a preference they have for their own 2nd year students.

I saw that on the PharmCAS website too. Im sure they take at least a FEW people. Lets hope at least!

an liu rep came to my high school and told me that they tend to select more students who are already in liu than transferees wanting to take the professional phase. hope that helps
