Hello all
This is my first post in this forum, so I apologize if I'm doing anything wrong.
I came into college not really knowing what to do with my life, so I decided it would be best to go down the pre-health (dental or med) route since it seemed very fulfilling. Unfortunately I took a Chem class P/F and I got a fail. The second time I took it for a letter grade and sadly, I still did not focus in school and ended up with an even worse grade. I ended this quarter with 2 Fs in Bio and Chem, yes the intro classes. I realize how awful this is and I have learned my lesson the hard way. Even though I'm already a soph, I still feel like I haven't transitioned into the college grind. Right now I am working on just reorganizing my priorities. I am thinking about just finishing the lib arts major I came into college with, getting my crap together and developing legitimate study habits, and doing clinical volunteering experience to learn more about the fields. And after college, if I'm sure I want to do one as a career, I want to apply to a post bacc program to strengthen my academic transcript and finish the requirements.
My question is, are there any post bacc programs that would even consider me as a student? I appreciate all possible brutal honesty. Thank you.

Wah wah wah

Get As - you have 2.5 years to do the best you can and then worry about after that.

Just get As

New rule: no posting in the postbac forum if you're more than a year from getting your bachelors.

The honesty isn't so brutal IMO, but it's all relative.

Lucky for you, you have time. Man, I wish I could talk to me ten years ago. Anyhow, STOP taking classes, digging a deeper hole, and losing money. For every class you screw up, you have to work many times over to recover. You need to take a time out and find out what the problem is and get back only when you are ready. If you don't slam the brakes right now, you'll be in an even deeper mess then you realize. I commend you for inquiring early on. I suggest you look at the low GPA thread and the success stories to see what's in store for you if you don't turn things around quickly. I'd also look at the MCAT 30+ thread to see how hard people study. Then get yourself some motivational videos to stay motivated.

How in the world did you get a worse grade then a fail... What did you get an epic fail?... Honestly if you are not just trolling us you need to go back and rethink you life goals. Find out what you enjoy. If you are interested in medicine, PA, nursing, dental or whatever you to the people in those fields and shadow them. See if that is a field you could spend the rest of your life in. Until you do this and you are about to finish an undergraduate degree we can't help you.

So...you're going into medicine because you couldn't think of anything better?

....really??

...as soon as I'm able to get a signature, this is going in it. 😆

Sorry not to be of any help, NoClueWhatToDo. 🙁 I'm applying for public health programs, not med school, but I've been doing an informal post bac of sorts; volunteering; and trying to attain more relevant work experience via AmeriCorps, RA positions, etc. Chin up, and best wishes with whatever you decide. 🙂

Glad you enjoyed it. Funny thing is my undergrad actually had a grade E that was lower then an F. We used to joke it meant epic fail, later they changed it to FN and defined it as fail due to non attendance. So there is the backstory.

Hey OP, I don't know if you're still reading this, but others may be in your position (or worse).

While 2 F's in science sucks, its not the end of the world. Just retake and try to get an A and get A - A- here on out. As long as you have more A's than B+'s (Nothing lower is tolerable) you should be in a better position at the end of senior year to apply (forget about applying Junior year).

While you're applying senior year, make sure to look at the list stickied above made by Dr. Midlife and apply to the Tier 1 programs that Dr Midlife listed. Go for real SMPs (Such as GeorgeTown, Cincy etc) since they are respected and have you taking medical school classes.

Or if you don't mind DO, retaking the classes would suffice.

Good luck OP!
