I am in an outservice ER residency, and desiring to do a regional anesthesia rotation, but our hospital does not have it available. Has anyone heard of a good regional anesthesia rotation at a military MTF?

First off, where are you? Second, can your civilian EM residency even set up a practice agreement with a military hospital for off-service rotations? Now, the Army has two anesthesiology residency programs at Brooke (San Antonio) and Walter Reed (Bethesda) that both offer good training for their residents. However, since they are residency programs, the first priority for all blocks is always the anesthesiology residents. Some of the smaller community hospitals (DeWitt, Ft Meade) have a good bit of regional, but do not usually have a dedicated regional service that would be amenable to hosting a rotator. Often, at smaller hospitals, the blocks are just done in the OR, or in a preop bay by the OR anesthesia provider. Are there other civilian hospitals with whom your program already has established training agreements, that also have dedicated regional service without anesthesiology residents?
