  1. Resident [Any Field]
I can't find much information on this program. I looked on scutwork and read the old threads and haven't found much. An old thread mentioned concerns about the grammatical prowess of one of the residents, and the scutwork review says something about residents not getting along. All I know so far is that it's a low-tech county program with decent volume and reasonably sick patients according to the numbers on SAEM.

Can anyone who rotated, interviewed, or currently works at Regions answer some questions:

  • What are the stand-out strengths of this program? Weaknesses?
  • Are the faculty part of a private group?
  • how teaching - focused are the faculty?
  • What is this program's rotation?
  • Is this a resident run ED with graduated responsibility i.e. do residents get any administrative or supervisory roles?
  • How involved is this program in research?
  • How is the EM Dept viewed in the hospital?
  • How do traumas run? rotated between surg and EM or is there a sperate team?
Thanks a lot for anyone's help and input?

In my opinion, Regions has a GREAT program! I rotated there last month for their advanced rotation and loved it! The residents were really happy, had a lot of autonomy, and the faculty are awesome (some of the best I've worked with on any of my EM rotations).

I'm in Guatemala right now until next monday, and unless you need to know immediately, would prefer to post more when I'm not paying for internet... but let me know if you do. For now I'll just say that this would be near the top of my rank list if it was better for me geographically.

Hey MNgirl, thanks for the info. I'll PM you next week. Hope you have an awesome time in Guatemala.

Bump. Any other opinions?
They have a brand new ED opening up this July.

Great program, smart residents, fantastic city (if you don't mind the cold).

I would've taken a job there if things hadn't worked out so well for me down here...

I can't find much information on this program.

I have rotated at both Regions (HealthPartners) and Hennepin. Its a general concensus among students in the region that Regions is more well liked for their close knit resident/staff group, patient population, and didactic teaching.

Hennepin is also an excellent program. Probably more well known for their outstanding control of everything ED (including running Trauma) and academics.

Overall, most Minnesota students that I know chose Regions over Hennepin this year, but its a personal decission.
