Registering for DAT

I was sort of frustrated with the registration process and the search function on this forum wasn't helping so if someone could help me out I would realllllly appreciate it..
I felt like i was just being bounced between ADEA and ADA trying to register and found out you have to be like pre-qualified or something to register for DAT?
I'm applying for the next cycle (2009) but I just wanted to know what the procedure was so that I don't risk anything... So for all those who took the DAT already if you could let me know how to actually register for one I'd really appreciate it! (If you could be as specific as possible that'd be great! cause I've already been surfing through ADA and ADEA with no luck)

DAT registration is on the ADA website. You can find step by step instructions here: http://www.ada.org/prof/ed/testing/dat/index.asp
Register online, pay the $175, wait a couple weeks for their letter in the mail, and schedule an appt for the test.

Look in the middle of the page, and follow the link that says "Apply online to take DAT". That should do it!

is there an expiration date on the letter or anything? i'm really paranoid about getting stuff lost in the mail (had it happen quite a few times...) so i'm planning to apply for it so i can just have it on my hands.. i'm planning to take it next spring.. it's not like you have to take the test within certain time period or anything after you get the letter is it?
