What things should I keep in mind while registering for MCAT? It's so daunting registering for such a big exam..I delayed going to their site for a month now.

1. Take it when you are fully prepared to take it. You should not 'plan' on taking it more than once.

2. Take it before the application cycle you want to apply during.

???

You should head over to the forums focused on MCAT preparation and read the stickies.

Sign up at least a couple months in advance of the date, if you live in a place with only one nearby test site. I wasn't able to sign up for the date I initially wanted because the site was full. I had to wait about a month and a half to get an available date.

It worked out ok for me because it gave me an extra amount of time, that I think I needed, but I also had to study while on vacation.

Plan ahead and makes sure you stick to your study schedule. Give yourself adequate time to study. 2 weeks before the date analyze your situation on your preparedness and try to gauge whether or not you are ready. If you're ready start those practice exams. Before the actual test date (2 days before) try a route to the exam site and do it at the same time you would leave for the test.

More personal advice, I actually traveled back home to take it near my parents house. It was a quieter atmosphere to get sleep the night before, and I got a more balanced breakfast of yummy home food for my game day breakfast so it was nice and destressing. I know its silly, but planning where to take it is a factor too
