hey folks, quick question about registering. I'm an intern and want to take step 3 this year since i'm a transitional year. my state doesn't allow me to register for step 3 unless i've complete like 10 months out of the year. if i register through another state like CT, for example, does that matter? i know i can still take the test in my state. but will this affect my licensure application for my state?

Old thread that hasn't been answered, but I was wondering the same thing. I would like to take STEP 3 before I start residency and I graduate May 2010. In my state, you have to complete your intern year before you are eligible to sit for STEP 3. What if I match into a program in a state without such requirements? I heard some talk of students applying for licensing in North Carolina for this very reason, even though they will not be going to residency in that state! Is this a loophole???

I'm in the same boat. If anyone knows of a list of states that allow Interns to sit for Step 3 prior to the end of PGY1, that would be tremendously helpful.
