I read in the MD board that it is possible to get rejected if you apply early without the MCAT score. Is this true? I thought the schools held on to your application until they received your MCAT score. Can anybody verify this? I was thinking of applying in June.. and sending my MCAT score early July...

I could see a school rejecting someone before the MCAT score. For instance, the person could have a really low GPA. The best thing to do is call the admissions department at the schools you're applying to.

Anyone else have thoughts and/or experiences with this? I, too, was thinking of doing this... though my gpa shouldn't get me kicked out. I hope they wouldn't just say -- oh, no MCAT score, they're out...

It's definitely possible to get rejected w/o your MCAT score if your GPA didn't meet their cutoff GPA, particularly for the applicants applying to state schools as OOS (since state schools usually have stringent criteria for OOSers).

However, other than for that reason, I haven't heard of that happening, though I wouldn't be surprised if it does occur.

I think you're worried that they won't see you as a whole, i.e. see the whole picture before making the final judgement...

Since your GPA isn't that low, I wouldn't be too worried if I were you:luck:
