hi,

it's my first time posting. sorry if i sound dumb. anyways, i was wondering what you guys might feel my chances are. i'm have a degree in biochem from ucla, but my gpa is low: 2.9. i've been working for kaiser as a pharm clerk for a few months now, and requested recommendations from trustworthy profs...any thoughts? btw, im only applying to cali schools. should i just take the pcat and try for next year for out-of-state?( ireally don't want to retake classes...)

honestly, you should definitely take the pcats and try for some out of state schools. my gpa was a 3.2 and my pharmacist encouraged trying out of state as well as cali and i noticed i only got interviews out of state, except touro.

im sorry cuz this is the cold hard truth, but if you rather not retake any classes, then pcats and out of state are your best bet and even then u are still competing against those with higher gpas . but on the flipside, your experience as a pharm tech is a lil booster though. so dont give up.

btw.. welcome to the forum. its a lot of help.🙂 🙂 🙂

Were you interviewed at UOP? If you were interviewed they thought your stats were good enough for admission, something just happened during the interview. If you were not interviewed you will probably have to do something to better your application. Retake classes, get some kind of special experience, take the PCAT, etc.

no...sadly, i was rejected right off the bat. so what are good pcat review materials?

I used the Kaplan 2007 study guide.

I'm from UCLA too, started out as biohem and graduated with psychobiology to up my GPA a little. NEwho..I'm reapplying also. I'm retaking classes right now and just finished my PCATs 3 hrs ago!
