I didn't see a similar thread on the forum so I decided that the time was ripe for such a discussion. Tell us your story of medical school rejection. I'll start.

I was so excited when I was chosen for an interview at UCF. It was my first this cycle and I was feeling good about my chances.

I was very impressed by the school. Everyone was so nice and the program looked solid. However, I couldn't gauge how well my interviews went.

I got the call this morning; waitlisted in the bottom third of the list. I was crushed. I have good numbers, EC's and letters. Why did I fail so miserably?

There's nothing to do now but keep my chin up for the rest of my interviews.

That's technically not a rejection. You got waitlisted, which sometimes is worse. But there's still a chance for acceptance.

Just got a rejection letter from GW. Told me to suck it.

Yes, you're correct that being waitlisted is technically not a rejection. UCF, however, does not reject candidates until they've filled their class; everyone is either accepted or waitlisted post interview. Being placed in the bottom third is effectively a rejection.

I should have called it quits then and there when a fellow candidate sat down and played the grand piano in the main lobby for the admissions staff. How do you compete with that? D'Oh.

My thoughts exactly. I'm pretty sure admins can tell when ones nose is brown. Otherwise, I would have been popping a wheelie and moonwalking it down the hall to my interview room. 😛

How do you know that bootlicker got in?
