Rejection for 2005 list

arizona today in the mail, im over it

May I join the club????

My IU rejection came on Saturday. Interesting is that i was interviewed there last year and then was rejected. But this year they rejected me because their interview spots are all filled up... so they had to reject. Even though my application has significantly improved!!!

Called BU, and they said they only interview those with DAT of 18 and above. So i guess i am expeting a thin envelope from them as well.

and if highfly413, fruity_trident, drtagman, and Johnson22 with their decent stats are getting rejected from Nova and AZ, i know what i should be expecting in the mail.

Going to be a very happy holiday season.

I thought I would never join this club ( or at least trying to stay away from this club), but now I am adding myself to this thread, Ariozna just rejected me. Fortunately I have my state school OHSU accepted me already.

don't say that... u know what...there was a secondary for nova, and mine was probably crappy! 🙄

mAybe we should put a lockdown on this thread untill the new year. I look this thread, and just brings me down.
Christmas is just right around the corner, that something to look forward too.

Don't lose faith.

How did the interview go for you? Can you see any problems during the interview that you could share with us???

I don't know what you mean by problems. The interview was more intense than most but still fine. I didn't like that it was on a Saturday because I didn't get to see the school and the students in action. The tour was short because most of the doors were locked, and there were about 80 kids there so a little intimidating, especially since everyone really wants in. My biggest suggestion is that if you are a non-resident really beef up on a possibility of staying in NC. I would be very interested in a long-term settlement there, which is exactly what they are looking for since it is so underserved. I just didn't make that clear. Then again, I haven't heard anything back yet so maybe they are still considering me.

Maybe I'll just take my scholarship at Iowa?

If you haven't heard anything then your application will be reviewed at the Feb 1 selection committee meeting. I'd take that as a pretty good sign since there's only 1 more interview session and from what I've heard it's mostly
in-state applicants.

On a side note, NC is a HORRIBLE place to live. With it's moderate climate year-round, proximity to beaches and mountains, good shopping and great food, I can't see why anyone would want to live here! 😉

UNC is one of the top schools in the country. Thus, you shouldn't be shocked to not get in, even as a state resident.

I hear this over and over yet no one will answer one question for me:

Why are they the only dental school in the country that has a lower accreditation rating? Some one please tell me!!!

They are the only one that has "Accreditation Status: Approval with Reporting Requirements"

Approval (with reporting requirements): An accreditation classification granted to an educational program indicating that specific deficiencies or weaknesses exist in one or more areas of the program. Evidence of compliance with the cited standards must be demonstrated within 18 months if the program is between one and two years in length or two years if the program is at least two years in length. If the deficiencies are not corrected within the specified time period, accreditation will be withdrawn, unless the Commission extends the period for achieving compliance for good cause.

my rejection letter wasn't certified

Got the thin letter from Arizona today.
On their secondary I didn't have good service references for them to check, so I think they wanted somebody they could call that could tell them that I worked every week at the homeless shelter or something.

That makes two rejections for me:

colorado, arizona

Hey MSF41:

Don't give up hope, as I learned last cycle, sometimes it isn't about the numbers but something else. Keep your chin up. I am not just saying that. I mean it!

anyone who got rejection from columbia after the interview?
it hurt so much.
had interview on nov 13 then the letter sent on 23rd........
how sad is it....

Yeah, rejection sucks!!! It really degrades your confidence. Good luck to you and hope other schools will offer their acceptance to you!!

After the interview??? I hope you didn't have to travel too far to get there.... do you have any clue at what might have gone wrong? Any problems during the interview? only if you feel comfortable about sharing that info...

Don't worry, you are not alone msf41. I too received a rejection letter from Arizona which was peppered all over the place with the word "unfortunately". I did notice a curious thing - the letter was postmarked November 3rd which leads me to believe that they made up their mind a while ago, ran the letter through the meter, and then just sent it out sometime later. I don't know which part(s) of my application they didn't like - oh well. 🙂

Hey, that is interesting regarding to the date of the rejection letter. I got interviewed in Sept and my letter of rejection was dated Dec 3rd. I have the same questions about Arizona just like you "what the heck they are looking for?". Anywho, I am over AZ now.
Don't feel bad if you are being rejected by AZ. I would have a headache if i try to understand why.

Well if Sprgrover and Dr. Smiley-OR got rejections, I suppose mine isn't far behind for AZ. What they H*LL are they looking for- Mother Teresa?

That is what I think is so frustration about this process of applying. You are some how suppose to be yourself, yet OSMOSE what kind of student all these schools want all at the same time.

And obviously it is more than your stats, because a lot of people would have acceptances everywhere.

although i didn't applied there, i think arizona is ridiculous. i heard they interview around 600 people for like 54 spots or something like that. personally, i think they just wasting a lot of students time inviting them for an interview. i mean come on, they neccasary need to interview 600 people..

Yes, finally got "IT" from UF, I have to admit from the beginning even applying over there is totally stupid, I was nuts. They don't take outstaters boy.

Aw, thanks. Actually, I don't feel bad at all. For one I feel fortunate to have to pick between some great programs - so I can't complain. Second, I remember walking out of the interview thinking the same thing - 'what in the heck do they want?' Oh, and yes, my letter was dated December 3rd, but the envelope was postmarked in November and I received it just a couple of days ago. Oh well, my Case acceptance letter was dated December 1st and the post office tried to deliver it November 26th.

What?!! I thought you told me my halo was fine! Crap, it must have gone out or something...Why didn't you say something Darksunshine!

I am sure it varies from school to school. But yes, I agree, it is a bit straining to try to be 'yourself' while projecting charm and competence without seeming too aloof or fake.

"application denied" it says on infosource for UF...denial number two (NOVA, UF)

They suck , I would think adcoms would be gracious enough to hold off on the rejection letters till after the new year.

nothin like opening up a letter during the christmas season, that stats unfortunately there aren't enough spots, and we had too many well qualified applicants, so basically you suck, by the way have a merry joly christmas yah loser!

All I can say is that applying to dental school requires a little bit a luck and a lot of courage, and by far a thick skin. REjections do hurt.

rejected from indiana

nova rejected me..oh well i pretty much saw it coming

Did you get rejected pre-secondary or post-secondary at Nova? Thanks.

Does anyone know of any schools that do not send out rejection letters until a "Certain Date"! I heard that some schools wait until Feb/March to begin sending rejection letters.

post-secondary...sucks huh? oh well better than post-interview

hi MitchSE! my stats are similar to yours and I was wondering if you wouldnt mind telling me whether u got accepted to BU, Tufts, and Temple? BU and Tufts are among my top choices because I really love the Boston area...anyway, thanks! 🙂

hmm..is it because of when u applied? is there such thing as schools just not contacting you at all?

i don't know what the deal is..i mean they've had my app since october which i thought was enough time to review it..either that or my stats just aren't good enough..i'll just keep waiting i guess 🙁

i'm in the same boat...schools have had my application since August, and i still haven't heard from NYU, BU, or Tufts...and VCU. i don't know what the deal is. i beginning to think maybe something is missing from my application, but it says that my app is complete and under review on infosource. it's freaking annoying-

Same thing for me also. But atleast you two (and me included) have one acceptance so we know we will atleast being going somewhere in the fall.

NOVA rejection...I guess it just took longer for me to get it (dated 12/14) than others who have received theirs recently....I really didnt think I would get in when people who had much better stats than me got rejected.

First Rejection from Baylor, in TX. Didn't even get an interview invite. Just got a letter saying that they hope I get in some where else. No comments on my application what so ever.

Don't feel too bad, if you're not a resident of Texas its nearly impossible to get an interview. Texas wants texas residents only I guess.

Thanks HD, I don't feel TOO bad because I did get 5 acceptances, I just think that I had what it would take to at least get an interview and they didn't list any reasons other than TOO many applicants this year so... anyway. I wish the would have saved me the money of not even asking for a secondary though, etc.

And my AADSAS number was like number 5... so it wasn't like I was late in my application cycle or anything.

Letter of rejection sent to my school address-my roommate who is already back at school, called to tell me. I knew it was coming eventually since I never got an interview. Rejection notices post Dec 1st if you have already been accepted elsewhere are not so bad.

I think that means it's a hold....isn't it? I don't think it's a rejection letter

Ah f'k, I got one from Nova today also. That makes a total of 6 rejections: Nova, Case, Arizona, Loma, Penn, UCSF . At this point, I'm tellin myself 'f'k it' and prepare for next year.

On the 'less than dark' side, I got a waitlist at Marquette and a 're-review' at UOP, so hopefully one of those turns into a positive, unless the other schools I applied to decide to grant me an interview. Good luck to everyone else here! 👍

Yah rejection suck, but thats part of the game. Hopefully marquette or UOP will work out for yah. Let us know if it does work out.
