Yea, I hope so. Just learned on inforsource that Louisville just sent out secondary stuff on the 5th. I guess they send out secondaries to all that apply

Thanks bro for your words of encouragement. 👍

What are your stats?

****ty. 2.98 cum, 2.7 sci, 20 AA, 20 PA, 19 TS. 👎

Rejected me before the secondary. 🙁

That sucks, can't believe they rejected you. You've got great stats too! I'm sure you'll get in somewhere.

Does anyone know of any schools that do not send out rejection letters until a "Certain Date"! I heard that some schools wait until Feb/March to begin sending rejection letters.

I know that at least Columbia and USC do not send out rejections for some applicants untill very late. But some seem to have gotten them already for Columbia (sadly of course).

yet another 🙁

the email subject was awfully misleading:
DMD 2005/2006-Interview

Nova - but I saw this one coming because many people here had way better stats than me and still got rejected.

UBC - hey fruity, I too was misled by the email title....my heart started to thump and I was like, "Oh my lord! I am actually going to get an interview with UBC" and then after I read it, I was like, "Crap, garbage, what the f*** this sucks!" and then I shed a small tear or two.

AHAHAHAHA

"Crap, garbage, what the f*** this sucks!"

oooh soooo hillarious.

i was @ the lab, and i said..."ooh what's this interview from?" in front of other students...and then BAM!...U SUCK...we don't want u! HAHAHAHA

oh well..pfff..who needs 2 yrs of med+d-school put 2gether anyways?

I'm bringing this thread back to its life! I called Arizona and was told that they rejected me. It was expected but still hurt and screwed up my luncheon. Here is my stats for your reference:

GPA: 3.56 S-GPA: 3.66 AA: 20 TS: 19 PAT: 18
AADSAS ID: 68XX
BSEE 2000. Been working full-time.
Community service: Very insignificant. I think this is why they reject me.

Luder98, I know you've been posting for a while and that you applied late in the cycle- don't let things like this bring you down, you are a very competitive applicant and I believe you decreased your chances of admissions simply by applying late. One year is nothing in the long run; keep your priorities aligned and begin to make your CV look better for the next cycle by getting involved with Boy's and Girl's Club, Braille Institute, and/or a hospice. I would choose anything like working with children and definately working at a hospice- apply early next cycle and highlight your clinical exposure and involvement to dentistry and life lessons learned from your volunteer activities- keep your application positive 100% of the way and do not reflect any negativity. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you to get in this year, if not, it's ok- you're already considered a dentist in my book- just think long term 😉
Thanks. I don't take it very hard. Lateness may be a minor reason, but community service is definitely why they rejected me. I'm giving myself a few more months to hear from other schools, then reset my clock. I'll get in eventually.

Hey Luder, my question is this:

So you had to call them right? They didn't send you a letter? I haven't actually worried about calling them since I got in at 5 schools on December first and I figured it was their loss for not notifying me sooner. Anyway, rejections always suck even if you understand why they didn't pick you.

Here is some luck for you!

:luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck:

got denied from 5 schools! i thought Meharry was easier to get into?!

Man erbs...you gotta call Marquette a profess your love for the school!

MEM3- Wow, I am really surprised you didn't get accepted. When did you hear from Temple?

you were too good for them.

I heard back yesterday. I was a little confused but decisions seem to be pretty random. My work experience is weak, so that could have done it. Nonetheless I was quite impressed after my visit at Temple. Anyway, class is cancelled today so im gunna hit the slopes. Take it easy guys!

Yeah, I called. After the second app, they said it should take around 4 wks to get a response. So I called.
I think it's better this way. I'm not very up-to-date with the current events, so I'm pretty sure I will fail their interview. Rejecting early saves me some bucks. I'm gonna use that money and have a big dinner this weekend. 😀 Thanks for the good luck's.

I got the letter yesterday 😡

I am not good enough I guess

GPA 3.4, Sci GPA 3.15; DAT 19/19/16 👎

DB#1 - you are good enough! It's tough competition out there. Keep positive. Where else did you apply?

UW rejection by Infosource... 🙁 but now I know where I'm headed 🙂

Hey Luder, It's totally Arizona's loss! Any word from your other schools? I know it's going to be hard to get volunteer work when you work a full time job. Good luck with that. I'd keep hope though. If not this year, definitely next year. Who knows, maybe it's all for the best. If you can go to UOP next year you'll still be graduating at the same time, plus you'll be able to save up a little more money for school! 👍 Whether or nto you get in this year, things are still looking good for you.

hey luder,

your stats are way good enough to stay in Cali... it just sucks that there is a zillion percent increase in apps this year and the timing of our apps were late. Just a couple of months earlier would make a whole load of difference for us. Hows your list of schools? Any other out of state schools on that list?

Three rejections so far for me... with Nova, Indiana, and UOP "aka re-review"

Hope the best for everyone... It's still not over yet!

Thanks bouncy_ball and boogaking.

Time and location are two important factors in my choices. Oregon and UW are the other two out-of-state schools that I chose. These are prob even harder to get in compared with our UC's (residential disadvantage). But I chose anyway. We'll see. There's always next year!

Let's stop this thread. It's too depressing, man.

it's weekends like this that can't get ANY BETTER 🙁
i'm in the lab till 9pm tonite. i'm in the lab saturday and sunday as well.

I thought my stats were relatively competitive:

NC resident

Undergrad GPA: 2.75 (BS Chemical Engineering)
Science GPA: 3.0
Graduate GPA: 3.6 (MS Chemical Engineering)

DAT: 19AA 17PAT 19QR 24RC 17BIO 20CH 17OC 18TS

100+ hours shadowing Periodontist and General Practice

Dunno if being a non-traditional student (32 years old) helps or hurts. I've been
out of school for a while, but I guess that's offset by 8 years of work experience.

Applied to: UNC, MUSC, VCU, Tufts, Case, Colorado, OSU

Thoughts?

The average g.p.a. for most schools is around 3.4. Your DAT is fine but the grades need to go up.

well chalk up another one! i just received a rejection from temple, man i really thought i'd at least get an interview..the letter says they're expecting 2800 applications for 125 seats and that the incoming averages are nearly a 3.2 in the basic sciences and a 19 on the DAT, i know my sci gpa is low but i really felt my DAT scores would make up for it..i guess i was mistaken!

usc and pacific - oh well, didn't want to move to cali anyway... 🙂

Ah ****ter! I got the same letter as you from Temple today, dated 1/24/05. Damnit, I'm going to apply late May/early June for the 2006 cycle. Good luck Mitch! 👍

hey would u mind posting your stats as well? thanks

After almost 5 months of being 'under review' I got the boot from UOP.

Also, Upenn.. Anyone else slightly ofended by their rejection letter?

Truthfully, I could give a flying ____ since I already put a deposit in and know where I am going.. but that letter was so condescending!

Good luck to all

I didn't apply to UPenn, but I was kind of upset while reading the letter from Arizona. I had called earlier and they said they would send me a letter with explanation why they rejected me. The letter, however, says nothing about the "why". I can guess why they rejected me, but I like to hear from them, esp when they said they would provide such information. Everyone has put in so much effort, I just thought schools should provide some details on why students were rejected. We didn't spend all the time, money and give up other important things in life to just get "we regret...." notice.

Temple.... I can't believe that one... I thought I would at least get an interview... that bites!

Where the rejections from Temple Pre- or Post- Interview? Just curious. Chin up everyone! I got the "unofficial" boot from Columbia... "If you would consider re-taking your DAT, we would love to meet with you... "something to that effect. It's ok! I am not really upset about it. I don't think I want to specialize and that is a big specialization school. So, it's A-OK. Plus, I am accepted to my second choice.. but still waiting on my first choice.. I tell ya this whole "under review" thing is enough to make you nuts. I think I am going to make myself a tee-shirt... "Under Review"
Good Luck People! :luck:

Dr. Bear did you interview at Columbia? Because I can't believe they would say that if they invited you for an interview...

LOL. Got rejected from Temple. Which is cool, cause I only applied there for the hell of it in case i didn't get into other places. Oh well 🙂

sinned said:

No, I visited the school, but never went on an official interview. I talked with them about my application etc.. before interviews began... and everything seemed A-OK... but I got a letter saying that they would be happy to "interview/meet with me" if I re-take the DAT, because they are impressed with me other credentials. I know that they are a HUGE DAT school...but I am surprised to get that this late in the cycle.. a request to re-take the DAT. So, to say the least...I am not re-taking it. No Biggie.

I kept from posting in this thread as long as I could, but I just received my first rejection from Nebraska. I really can't complain. Good luck to everyone else.

WHAT DOES NEBRASKA WANT?! what are their averages? 😱

People...if you are an out of state applicant to a school (ie Nebraska) chances are you wont get in even if you have a 3.9 and a 30 (unless you have serious connections). Cal...if you arent from there...I wouldnt take it as a surprise. There are some exceptions to this rule (ie high out of state numbers but usually they take 99% in state and 1% out of state).

i think Nebraska has one of the highest gpas for entering classes

woah....i obviously didn't do my research! 😀

When I interviewed at Nebraska they told me that they have had the highest entering freshman GPA in the nation for 5 years or so. They said that partially it was do to grade inflation at the rural nebraska colleges. They do make a big deal out of GPA. When I was there the interviewer told me that my 3.6 gpa was "unimpressive, but average." Geez and I thought it was pretty good???

When I first started looking into nebraska I found out that their board scores I and II have been in the top ten in the nation for the past 7 years. Top 5 for the last five years. That reputation led me to believe that they were excellent educators. However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that if you accept a class full of 4.0 students than those guys are going to kill their boards with the worst of instructors. So the high entering gpa ultimately led me to loose a little respect for the school.
