Rejection from most schools with ok GPA and DAT

I just received a letter from Temple saying that I am not competitive
(along that line). I was just wondering if I can get some insight on schools that I may have a better shot at. I know I applied LATE but I did manage to get 1 interview at BU. I have tons of volunteer (very very diverse) plus great research and also shadowing experience. Im just curious to know if people are accepted maybe in some of the schools i applied to with similar marks. and should i consider redoing dat because of low RC=16?


Rejected: NOVA, TEMPLE, MARYLAND, MARQUETTE so far
Waiting on: UDM, NYU, COLUMBIA, UB, USC

DAT (AA=19, TS=20, PAT= 20, Carving= 20)

Submitted Application in December/05
Completed with sending DAT results in Jan20/06

An early application would have guaranteed a spot at one of those schools.

The Dental Schoola only offer so many interviews, once they have filled them everyone else is given the standard rejection letter.

This is not a surprise if you applied in december. Schools like CASE had their interview filled out even for the people who applied in september. Schools make their decisions based on the applications they have. Your numbers are Ok to get you in somewhere but you are late. Good luck for rest of cycle.

Why? If the class is full, or there are applicants with your same stats but they applied earlier than you, then there aren't any spots for interviews left.

I agree that your school selection was pretty good. Try applying in May this year instead of December.

I agree with Gavin. Don't underestimate the importance of applying early - I'm sure your chances will improve greatly, and you'll see better results, when you submit your application in a few months. Best of luck!
