Rejections???

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was just wondering how you were notified of the rejection.....(sorry 👎 )

I am still waiting on 6 schools and I am beginning to wonder if it was time to start calling to find out if they are going to offer me an invite or not.

--I was going to do this a few days after the dean's letter went out....any thoughts? 😕

I got an email with a subject of Residency Application, instead of the much more pleasant Interview title. I'm not sure if it is too early to query residency programs- maybe another week for those who were waiting on dean's letters?

UCDavis, a program kind enough to give "updates", said that they were reviewing applications this week and we would likely hear back from them next week. so yeah...im going to give my other programs a week and then start asking!

Rejection #1=Vanderbilt

It's ok though, I had already decided not to interview there regardless because of geography, and because I want to stay at my home program. Still a little blow to the ego...... 😳

I just hope it's the last!

Well, I also got my first rejection letter today--Vanderbilt. It was sort of anticipated since they were taking so long to respond, nevertheless, I can't help but feel a little bad about it. I am still waiting on one more program (LSU), hopefully, it won't be another rejection.

Rejection #2 UNC Chapel Hill

I called the five programs today that I was still waiting on. I got one rejection, one interview offer, one that said my application was on hold and that they would let me know in a few weeks, and I left messages at the other two with hopes of hearing back soon.

It was a big relief to have some answers, even if they are rejections simply because I am so tired of checking ERAS and my email for possible correspondence from programs. I would recommend it highly, just say you are checking on the status of your application.

Rejected from Children's Hospital of Boston, while being a member of AOA, a 250+ Step 1, and a 260+ Step 2. What gives? I know that grades and score are not everything, but they didn't even want to meet me, or even at least wait-list me. I smell discrimination.... 🙁

What gives indeed? Yours is a pretty sobering post. Big fat drag.

Out of curiosity, discrimination on what basis?

A drag, but I am over it now. I wouldn't want to discuss the discrimination on a message board. It is personal.

...while of course they help. especially in getting interviews. but the impression i've gotten from the places at which i've interviewed so far - seattle, ucsf, yale - is that they are looking for good, caring people who have done interesting things outside of the classroom, who most importantly will fit well with their program. letters are important, unique activities to which you showed dedication are important.

i obviously am not on an admissions committee, but these points have been stressed so far.

and i was lucky enough not to get any rejections.

no matter what, in the end, there are a lot of good programs out there with good faculty, happy residents, and an overall good environment in which to train. You just gotta find the right fit for you. 🙂

MGH! My first rejection! But I have to admit that it was the nicest rejection I've seen. And I hate to say this, but I couldn't have interivewed with them anyway (only Fridays, and all my Fridays are full). But it's always nice to be wanted by everyone...

I finally took someones advice and called the programs I hadn't heard from. Of the ones I called only one (Brown) said they wouldn't be able to interview me because of the quanitity of applications they received this year (at least they were nice about it 🙂 ). The calls also rounded out my interviews to 16 (just added Wake Forest and UCSF-Fresno).

If anyone is still waiting call!!! I think that's why I got the last two!

I'm still waiting for Columbia - I guess I'll call them on Monday. I know a couple of people who've been asked to interview, but has anyone been rejected by Columbia yet?
