Hey guys,

I just took my AAMC 9 and am pretty bummed. I was averaging about a 36.4 on my exam AAMC's with a range of 34-39 with the 39 being most recent on AAMC 8. My timing was SOOO off especially on verbal which I found insanely hard. I missed a bunch of questions on the last passage because of it. As a result I got a 33 on AAMC 9 (12/8/13) so I am very concerned about my verbal! My concern is obviously getting an 8 in verbal.

Since my perception is all relative to my scores this is a huge decrease in my score and makes me very worried that a similar occurrence can happen when I take my actual AAMC in 1.5 weeks!

Any advice would be much appreciated since I am pretty bummed right now. How can I assure that a mistake like this with timing won't happen? I seriously ****** up verbal. On a better note, I got a 12 and 13 on PS and BS respectively.

Just for reference my scores were

3: 34
4: 36
5: 36
7: 37
8: 39
9: 33 (12/8/13) <---- the verbal

To be fair to all the "haters," I was drawn into reading this post by the large number of responses. When I read the thread title "Relatively bombed a full length," I feel like the OP is kinda trying hard to get attention. Scoring 1 point below your lowest AAMC average (33 v. 34), is not "bombing." Very few people start threads talking about bombing one particular full length when scoring 1 point below their previous AAMC lowpoint. Obviously OP has gotten some hate, but he/she has gotten far more support than detraction. Sounds like OP has gotten good advice. GL OP.

You hit it on the money. I do it for the ladies. Hey ladies, how you like my MCAT scores?

What allopathic school looks kindly upon an 8 on VR? Even so, if you don't like it my thread, you don't have to post.

LOL this reminds me of a thread a while back where someone asked about the MCAT immersion trip and whether it was worth it and 3-4 people proceeded to bash the OP for even thinking about shelling out so much money for that program.

Just as no one should tell you how to spend your money, no one should tell you what your goals should and shouldn't be. I know a guy at my school who averaged 40+ on the AAMCs and ended up getting a 35 because he got shafted by a hard exam. He was angry about it. Obviously 35 is a good score but wouldn't you be miffed if you hit 40+ on the practice tests and then came away with a 35? People have different perspectives.

EDIT: The "you" refers to the people bashing the OP

I would be interested in knowing whether all of those AAMC full length practice exams were taken under timed conditions. If not, that might it.

We don't have your verbal scores for AAMC 3-5, 7 and 8, so it is hard to know whether this was an outlier or not. How much variance has there been in your verbal scores in the past? Also, is it possible that you are beginning to experience test anxiety as the real thing approaches? If so, it is better to resolve this now.

Between 10-13 with the average being 11.

I think it definitely is some test anxiety. What is the best way to tackle that in your opinion?
