Step 1 upper 240s and got a Step 2 CK of 250. I was scoring much better on practice tests but dropped quite a bit. Should I release it and will it hurt for top programs? It seems top rad programs average upper 250s/260s for CK.

Don't release it. Relative to the average, your score on CK is actually weaker than Step I. Only reason to release it would be if you scored insanely high or if your Step I was weaker and you improved substantially (>20 points). At this point, it probably matters very little anyways, but why send a score to programs that says "look, I didn't improve at all from Step I to Step II."

Uhhhh definitely release it. You should have all your usmle scores in by the rank deadline. Step 2 CS too. Next to someone who has a 245/250 that looks "better" than someone who has 245/Pending.

I agree with the above poster. But definitely make sure you know if any programs you have require it to rank.

Release it. As the above poster stated, some programs pay attention to it and may like it when debating btwn two equal applicants for their ROL.
I ended up at a top program with just a little bit higher #s than yours, and some pleasantly mentioned my CK score during interviews since a lot of people don't release it.

Release it. Although relatively speaking it is not as big an increase as statistically expected, it is still a good score. Two good scores are better than just one. Besides, if it is not released, there will be this nagging feeling in their mind that you might have totally bombed it.

I released all the step scores, so everything is on file. I am still a teeny bit upset about CK. After 1.5 weeks of studying: 257 UWSA and 259 on an NBME prior to my test. 77% correct on UW random-timed ... only to screw up the real deal.
