Roughly the same time you get it. Which is why I don't understand why it's even an option. If you check "no" on auto release, then get your score and release it manually, it generally takes <48h for it to be available to programs. So why even bother with the auto-release?
If your Step 2 score is crap, you won't want it released...if it's awesome, you'll be clicking that "release" button on ERAS before you put down your score report.
The auto release option seems to be there solely to confuse and confound neurotic med students (which a part of me can totally get behind). I don't really see what practical use it serves though.
