Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum. Been browsing around, reading a few things. Trying to figure out where I'm going to apply this summer. I had a question:
After you graduate from dental school, is it hard to move to another state to practice?
I live in Nebraska, and if I got into Neb then I'd save a ton of money compared to going out of state. Problem is, I'm not really sure I want to live in Nebraska for the rest of my life. I worry that if I go to dental school here and attempt to move to another state that I would have a hard time finding a job or opening my own practice, or even getting licensed in that state. Right now, Colorado, North Carolina, and Tennesse are the states I'm most interested in living in. Possibly California, but it's so expensive that I don't know that I could live there (or afford school there, even though UoP looks and sounds amazing and would be my number 1 choice if money wasn't a factor).
Also, even though I'm not sure that I would want to specialize but if I did decide to I worry about the same things. Difficulty finding a job/opening a practice in a state where I have dentists that know me and would refer patients to me.
Thanks.
