Is everyone verified an attending?
I wasn’t aware of that
My meeting is Wednesday and of course I’ll keep you all in the loop.
Some on my admin are fairly optimistic for my case others have reservations.

Either way I’ll let you know how it goes. Definitely a mixed bag of opinions from my admin because there are a lot of factors at play.

The option to remediate again is on the table in their eyes per the letter I got. I just have to convince them.
I'm verified as an attending and faculty. Life is full of choices. Make good ones. Look at all the aspects and make the best choice for you. Donald Trump wrote in his book, Art of the Deal, and I'm paraphrasing, if you look at all sides and you can live with the worst case scenario, then make the deal. Good luck and best wishes. Whatever you decide, I hope you return to post of your success.

Thanks.
For sure I’ll keep you updated for what is decided on Wednesday.

My admin knows me and the situation pretty well so I’m sure they will make a decision that makes sense.
No two students or remediations are the same so I’m sure they will take a balanced view.

According to their short list of choices re remediating is under consideration. My opinion can help to swing them.

I stood before the committee today.
They took questions for just over an hour and both options were on the table when I left.
I heard from a professor on the committee the deliberation lasted about 2 hours after I left.
I’m getting an email with the final result either late tonight or early tomorrow.

I’ll let you all know
Current mood :yawn::scared:

They’ve asked me to repeat but I can request reconsideration

Success does not define you. Its how you respond to your failures. No successful person gets there without failures. Look inside yourself, get some counseling and make the needed changes. Dumber people than you have gone farther with less. You just need to play the game better. When you have matched in a few years, you will look back and agree this was the best option for success. Good luck and best wishes

I know it sucks to repeat a year OP, but they aren't doing this to be mean. They obviously have metrics that suggest this will keep you from failing boards. In fact, it may save your career, and the 70.1 person may end up screwed.

I’m definitely invested in the new year at this point.
It sounds like their primary concern was simply that I didn’t have the time to prepare for a new examination.
I’ll retake the year and hope for the best.
It seems really harsh for me and one of my classmates to have to repeat an entire year over a single course but I suppose that’s life

They could have expelled you. This is a wonderful and merciful decision and you need to be extremely grateful

I can't see any school expelling a student for failing a remediation exam that hasn't had any other issues and that SA dean is supportive of.

OP, totally understand why you are upset you have to take the other M1 classes, but you will crush them. If you didnt pass the remediation exam, it is probably true you needed to repeat. 3 weeks is plenty to prepare.
Maybe you didn't 'need' to repeat an entire year (my school only repeats the class after failing a remediation test, although still lose a year), but it will be an easy and beneficial year for your learning

edit: the people in my class who had to repeat were some of the best students. You'll be that OP

OP, I have an advisee doing what you are doing. He kept his head down, studied hard with a different plan and is killing it as a 2nd yr. I believe PDs are more sympathetic to this scenario with an upward trend than to someone just scratching by and ending up with a board failure. I know this would be hard on anyone, but I have seen this situation several times. Hang in there, it will be all the more sweeter when you match.

One of the students repeating honestly its a shock to me. She seemed so on top of it.

Sometimes I guess things just happen

it's not your place to be posting this on a public forum. and, fyi, it's not so secret what school you go to. what makes you think your classmates don't read this? if you weren't so oblivious you'd change your username, you'd make your previous posts unsearchable. all things considered, you walk through life without a clue and that needs to change, now's your chance. You're lucky you're repeating the year. L-U-C-K-Y. Have a little grace and sit down and order a giant slice of humble pie and eat it slowly while doing some serious soul searching. good luck with everything. i'm sorry for you loss.
This post is totally uncalled for, and nothing is wrong with what OP said. People who seem ontop of their **** can struggle and alot of your fellow classmates who put up a brave face struggle as well. If OP classmates what to get butthurt from OP going through a hard time then they have bigger problems

Exactly. That was more a compliment to that student. A lot of students struggle, for many reasons.

There were a lot of factors that lead to my failure, and I’m sure theirs as well.

It’s good that we recognize that some people who seem okay aren’t. It shocked me and I learned from that

OP, from your posts it sounds like your struggles are centered around YOU not taking responsibility for your own actions that led to failure. At the end of the day, an excuse is an excuse is an excuse. and you're full of them. I've said it before in a previous thread centered on the same topic that was deleted months ago -- if you can't take full responsibility for your actions -- then I don't feel comfortable with you managing people's care. Do your future patients a favor and take a good hard look within. Please. As future physicians patients look to us for answers, not excuses.

Classic SDN, you have a problem with OP and that equates to him/her not being a good doctor. Get over yourself!

As I stated, it’s a balance between personal factors and factors at the school

Ultimately I tried my hardest to continue made my case and then accepted the decision that the school made. This has been the hardest year of my life but I’ve learned from it.

If you know me, I suggest you check out my personal Facebook post which had a lot of detail. And takes responsibility for the events very personally.

His/her arrogant attitude and calling a mental health problem an excuse prepares him/her well tho.

thank you
I can have this thread taken down now that I have gotten a resolution in my case.

And thank you to the many who were supportive
