Hello all,
I repeated my failed MS1 year at a well known US MD school. After the repeat I came back strong and have been doing well. My Step 1 score is average (lower 230s). I have done research in med school but no publications (several prior to med school). What are my chances of matching into Emergency Medicine granted I do well in my clerkship courses? Any other advice for becoming a competitive EM applicant is welcomed! Thanks.

If you can explain it away, as well as show upward trend you shouldn’t have problem matching. At what programs, I couldn’t say.

Good luck.

Im not too sure about the upward trend helping since my school is P/F. Definitely need to find an eloquent way to explain my [email protected] up.

You're going to be an ER doc if that's what you end up applying into

Just make sure all of your other ducks are in a row for EM. Talk with a career counselor at your school and find out all the boxes that successful candidates from your school are checking in order to match, and then make sure you have them. As long as the repeat is the only deficiency, you shouldn't be in too bad of shape IMHO
