I want to shadow a local dentist. Which of the following would you recommend I do?

1. E-mail my letter of interest and CV.
2. Drop off the letter of interest and CV in person at the practice.
3. Mail the letter and CV through the post office.

Thanks.

You can just pick up the phone and call them or stop by the office and ask. You don't really need to apply to shadow. Why would you need to give them a CV?

When I first started looking for a dentist to shadow I thought I had to give them my resume etc too. But what I've found to work the best is just get some phone numbers of local dentists that you'd be interested in shadowing, give them a call and ask if they'd give you the opportunity to shadow them. If not, move down the list until someone says yes!
Good luck :luck:

Definitely just call. Some of the older dentists may not have heard that this type of experience is essentially required now, but more often than not, they're eager to show a young college student what the profession is about.

Just a call. In person leaving a resume with the receptionist would also be a nice touch too.

Thanks guys. Follow-up question: What day of the week and time of the day do you think would be best to call? Sorry for the noob questions btw.

probably in the evening, close to closing time. a lot of the dentists i know tend to have relaxed schedules in the evening so you'll probably be able to talk to them around then...but again that's prob subjective

Get the office manager either early in the morning or near closing, when there may be down time.

I called the local dental offices first, and I only had one ask for a letter of intent and a resume. I hand delivered this, and I shadowed at his office soon after.
