Hi everyone,

This may be a dumb question to ask but how should I go about asking a letter of recommendation from a professor I had over a year ago. Is it preferred to meet her in person before getting in contact with her? And if I'm not able to meet in person, what should I email her saying? Unfortunately I don't think she would even remember me just from an email. Any advice you guys can give me would be really helpful, thank you!

I would go and see them personally. That is how you are supposed to do when it comes to requesting letter from a professor.

Thanks for your reply. If I am able to visit her, what should I say and what should I have prepared?

Ideally, I would meet in person. I had a similar situation for my A and P prof, luckily I saw her at least 2 times a week in the halls and said hi, but my school was small. I would definately stop in and say hi and explain why you're requesting and if he or she would be willing. Shouldn't run into any issues with this. Most people are happy to.

Where did you go to school? My daughters boyfriend went to Ferris State.

I would just go up and ask them if they would be able to write one and if yes, hand them a copy of your resume to make it easier for them to write, they will appreciate if you are well-prepared and have information for them to use.

Just give an overview listing your GPA, volunteering positions, shadowing experience, mini-personal statement perhaps.

I gave a copy of my personal statement and my CV along with my EC to the people writing my LORs
