At my university, I'm enrolled in the pre-medicine advisory program, and there are certain requirements for curriculum that they set on you. I told my psych advisor that I'm pre-med and that I need to do specific bio/chem/math classes.

He suggested I start out in the first semester doing my psych requirements (psych 101, stats, first year seminar). I listened to him, and then took 2 other classes that filled other university requirements (Programming I => comp requirement, Cultures & Transnational Corporation => AUCC requirement). I just re-looked up the required classes and realized that I'm going to end up having to take 2 science courses, calculus, a pre-med course, and then on top of that, my psych classes.

I have a feeling I didn't get the best advice from my adviser. So, right now I'm freaking out about what to do since I don't want to be overwhelmed with classes; I contacted one of the professors on the advisory board for pre-medicine and asked her what I should do.

You see, the issue when I freak out is that my medicine seems to stop working; I have schizophrenia -- meds not working + schizophrenia = BAD. I've tried contacting my psychiatrist and counselor and left them messages.

I'm guessing that either I need a medicine change, or another raise in dosage of medication (I'm on 400mg Seroquel atm; used to be on 800mg Seroquel).

I'm moving this to Pre-Allo, where you'll get better responses for your pre-med issues.

However, SDN is not for medical issues--please consult a qualified healthcare provider. So let's please keep this discussion to the relevant issues. Any speculation about medications or medical issues will result in the thread being closed. 🙂

I didn't mean this thread to be a discussion about medications, but rather about the issue I have with classes lol. I have already dealt with the medication situation by calling my psychiatrist and telling her I need to go back on my older, higher dose.

It's all about time management. You'll be alright and it'll build character. I've had 22 credit hour semesters so I don't even want to hear it 😀 Take this challenge as an opportunity to gain confidence and to prove to yourself that you can do this.

That's exactly what I'm trying to tell myself 😛 . This semester is really strange though; my teachers don't give homework for the most part (only papers and reading), which I'm not used to. Two of them doesn't give tests or quizzes.

I look at my roommate who's an architecture major and he's always doing homework  .

I'm trying to prep myself for all of these science classes though - usually I try to figure out what is taught in the class and then try and find additional resources besides the textbooks they provide (some of them SUCK at explaining things...like my stats book).
