Hey, can anyone tell me what a dental student needs to do in order to graduate? I've heard you have to do a certain number of fillings, extractions, crowns, etc. Any idea how many this generally is?

Also, I'm in undergrad right now, and working on hammering out my capstone project, which is pretty brutal. Is there anything like this we have to do to finish dental school (grant proposals, research projects, internships, etc.)? The thought of doing another grant proposal is unappetizing.

Mm... no idea about averages.. My school had to do ~ 100 fillings (composite/amalgam), 7 arches of removable (RPD/complete denture - do you even know what these are?), 650 points of crown and bridge (provisionals are 8 points, crowns/abutments are 17 points, implants are counted towards this, and were 35 each), some treatment planning points, 30 cleanings (I believe), and about 20 quads of scaling/root planing, and then random stuff in the specialty clinics, but which were often not # requirements, as much as competency requirements (like, just show that you are proficient at it, once or twice). And then there were like 1000 other hoops to jump through: meetings with faculties, radiograph reviews, signatures for adequate anesthesia, x days at sites a, b, and c; y number of community service hours / year, reflection papers, etc. Have fun! Glad I'm f'ing done with all that.
