Reschedule or push through?

I test 8/14.
FL1: 497 FL2: 498

I want to postpone to 9/03 (every other date is not available near me). This allows me to do more UWorld & AAMC materials without being crammed for time. I am already verified for DO schools and I won't submit to MD schools unless my FL3 or FL4 is a 507+.

For reference: I have a 3.7 cGPA (4.0ed my last 82/90 credits so huge upward trend) & (3.5 soph, 3.9 junior & 4.0 sGPA junior year). But I have a 3.4 sGPA(Yes my freshman year was crap).

I really don't want to take this thing until I can at least see a 5XX on my practice FLs however will I be too late for DO schools if I take it 09/03? Please let me know ASAP.

Postpone. Your scores are low for MD and DO schools. Having scores below a 127 indicates a lack on content knowledge and below a 125 is troubling. You should not take the exam until you are scoring at least a 505+ for DO. What are your score breakdowns?

The important thing isn’t to make a particular application cycle but to put yourself in the best position possible to earn an acceptance. Those sub scores (123, 124, and 121) are a big red flag for an admissions committee and will cause an admissions cycle to be an even steeper climb than it already is. You’re not ready yet, that’s ok. See if an additional month puts you in a better place.

Yeah, definitely postpone. Your GPA is pretty solid, especially with the good upward trend (some schools really value this), so you should aim for 510, or the average MCAT score of MD matriculants.

Yes. The DO cycle is always later than MD, and this year even MD is delayed due to the cancellations earlier this year. 9/3 would be fine for DO in any year, and, this year, maybe even MD, depending on the school and your score.
