I described my previous projects relatively briefly, but for my current project which I am still working on (no real results yet) I wanted to go into more detail. How much background is appropriate for the research essay?
I'm studying virulence factors of Enterotoxigenic e. coli.
Should I just give general details, or should I go into the specifics about the diseases? How it infects and how many cases per year, epidemiology, etc (even if it's not directly relevant to my research). Should I go into detail about protein names, or is just a description of their function ok?
They ask for my contribution to the project... does that mean details about the techniques I used?
I didn't want to put too much detail in, for the readers sake, but its getting awkward going into the details of the procedure, because I'm using too many pronouns, and not enough background, I think.
How "abstract-y" should I make it?
