From what I've read it seems that most activities done before undergrad shouldn't be put on your AMCAS application. Even so, should I still list my research from my sophomore and junior years in high school? For that I was first author in a publication in Nature. I'll be starting a new project later this summer but I think it would be nice to have possibly two first author publications right up until my junior year in college (sophomore right now) - or does author # not really matter that much?

If you genuinely were a first author on a Nature paper in high school and are not trolling, absolutely list it.

Your work in HS gets you into college. The work in college gets you into med school. If your HS work continued or built on what you did in HS, then I think it is acceptable to include it. You can certainly list all publications, regardless of when you worked on them.

There are HS students doing work I'd consider worthy of inclusion on a med school application. Example: http://www.ctpostchronicle.com/articles/2012/09/18/life/doc5058c7042e08a930568686.txt
