i graduated UCSD 07 with a BS in psychology (3.23 overall, 3.6 in major) and somehow got away with pretty much no science(one year calc, two quarters of non-science bio, one quarter of non-science chem). I have two years of fmri research expierence.

1 year with the VA(student intern, then converted to staff), researching neuropsych functioning differences between drug naive adolescents and regular substance abusing adolescents. I administered and graded neuropsych tasks, and administer behavioral tasks while subjects were in the fMRI machine. we scanned healthy adolescents only. working under several PhDs.

1 year with UCSD (staff), research adolescent depression. we are looking at correlations between brain activity and depression treatment recovery, to see if we can more accurately predict treatment outcomes and prescribe treatments more efficiently/effectively. Working directly under a MD/PhD.

i am trying to do a post-bac to get my science requirements completed, and establish a strong science GPA. Can research experience go "stale"? Would it be advisable for me get additional experience during post-bac (if available)? or can i "sit on my laurels"?

also, is there a difference in the level of importance of research expierence to allopathic and osteopathic schools? this may not be the right thread for that question, but someone may know...

If I were in your shoes, I'd prioritize this way:
1. GPA
2. GPA
3. GPA
4. GPA
5. GPA
6. MCAT
7. MCAT
8. MCAT
9. MCAT
10. Everything else

Best of luck to you.
