Position Objective:
The Clinical Research Fellow will be required to undertake original research commensurate with the research interests of the Minimally Invasive GI Surgery specialty.
Essential Job Duties:

  1. Develops research objectives, projects and proposals.
  2. Conducts individual or collaborative research projects.
  3. Conducts research projects leading to data gathering and review, statistical analysis, abstract and manuscript preparation and presentation.
  4. Identifies sources of funding and contribute to the process of securing funds.
  5. Writes or contributes to publications or disseminates research findings using other appropriate media.
  6. Makes presentations at conferences or exhibit work at other appropriate events.
  7. Contributes to teaching activities of the department and SAIL.
  8. Acts as program leader, course leader or module leader.
  9. Establishes relationships and collaborates with AAMC s Research Institute, staff of SAIL Institute and members of Department of Surgery as identified by Chair.
  10. Attends meetings as assigned by Chair of Surgery.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
  • Possession of an earned doctoral degree from an accredited university or possession of a degree in medicine from an accredited college or university.

There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
Physical Demands –
Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
