Hi guys,

I'm interested in doing research, but i've heard from someone that research doesn't really look good to DO schools; and that it actually worsens your chances to get into a DO school because they assume you will get into an MD school so they don't bother giving you an acceptance. Is this true? I wouldn't want to do research and worsen my chances with DO schools in trying to make my case for MD schools. I am interested in research, but not to the point where i'll be devastated if I don't get to do it. I have done grade replacement, and doing really well so I would like DO to remain a possibility.

Thanks in advance!

Add it. If a DO school turns you down because they think you have too much research then they don't deserve you
. But all in all I think that "research on an app" as a negative to adcom is largely a misconception.

Bull. I have 6+ years of research and 5+ pubs. I had no problem getting DO love and it never came up in interviews. It will not hurt you.

+1 the above posters.

I have extensive research with accepted posters/publications and many osteopathic schools were interested in that experience.

Same experience as the above posters. I don't think this is actually a thing. Maybe if you are like a 3.8+/514+ applicant with 5 pubs yeah they might get wary but outside of that I can't see why it would hurt you.
