Hey guys so I am a pre-med student at NYU and i wanted to start doign research preferabbly starting over this summer and continuing into next year. I have emailed numerous professors all of which have told me that they do not have room in their lab or will not be able to offer me a positon as I am currently only a Freshman.

In any case, to make a long story short, I wanted to ask you guys if you could recommend to me researchers that would possibly give me the opportunity to conduct research with them.

Please compile a list BELOW...

Thanks,

seriously? come on, go out there with some confidence and i'm sure you'll find some great opportunities.

"Please Compile a list below..." YEAH RIGHT!!!!!

Try doing some research on sdn and look at the SEARCH FUNCTION. If still you could not find it, then FOR SURE WE WILL LIST DOWN.

Hey, man,
Just wanted to say that most research position applications are due in February, for REUs, SURPs, SURFs, etc. And most professors also decide at least in March about their research teams for the summer. I think your primary issue here was timing, because I'm sure you could have gotten in somewhere if you had applied early in like January. In fact, even if I compile a list now, all the deadlines have long passed anyway. Sorry man

The list is quite long, but as the previous person said, you're too late. Columbia Univ. as well as UMDNJ offer NERA HCOP, which is an awesome program if you're considering medicine. UMDNJ also offers countless research opportunities, just look up their site. Not sure about Columbia being open to other students, but you could try it.

This late in the game, I would check craigslist and/or look for opportunities in hospitals or associated laboratories. NYC is filthy with hospitals.

Also, post your resume on Craigslist (but don't put your full name / address / personal stuff). A research in a neuroscience dept in a NYC school found me that way.

your not trying hard enough. I go to NYU too, and after getting rejected by 12 different labs now work for one of the premier primate labs on campus.....won't say which.

by the way I didn't go through a "research application process", I literally just sent out a lot of emails with my CV and eventually got hired.

This is what you should be doing. Don't apply for stuff at this stage in the game. Go straight up to your professors and make sure you emphasize your willingness to devote time and effort to do this.
