During my undergrad I have worked in a couple different labs and done 'wet lab' biomedical research. I found that I loved conducting research, formulating and testing hypotheses, and I want to continue as a medical student/physician.

While writing secondary essays I am trying to discuss my passion for research but I am struggling because I don't really have a 'research interest'. I am not sure what specific research field (within medicine) I would be most passionate about. How exactly is everyone going about talking about their passion for research? Should I find/callout faculty that research in areas which my past experiences would be relevant to?

I am applying for MD only, not MD/PhD. I would love to hear what everyone is talking about when it comes to research if you aren't 100% set on a specific area.

So stop thinking in those terms of a specific area of research. Think instead of the concept and the relationship you have with research. What does it show about you? what characteristics, attributes and personal traits? Intellect curiosity, the satisfaction as seeing an issue, designing an experiment, etc.
Thank you for this. I was getting a little fixed on explaining specific interests in my essays but this helps a lot!
