Anyone knows if it's possible to do some research abroad ? I am thinking to do research(Hope bio-medical) in South Africa, Australia, U.K or Ireland in summer time in undergrad. :soexcited:

Is it possible ? Any good website for this issue ?

Thanks for any comments and please feel free to donate your ideas here.

I know a lot of Universities will offer these sorts of programs. There are some that aren't University affiliated but I'm not sure how much hardcore, useful research you would do. I recently stumbled across the site ISVonline.com I believe which has travel to Africa and some other places. Your best bet would just be study abroad though.

Check to see if any of your university websites have a study abroad database that gives an idea of some locations you might visit. Several might even offer independent research options. It's much easier to find something through your school. 🙂

Sorry this is a little bit off topic, but did you guys hear about the Ebola virus spreading in Africa? I think Africa may be a "dangerous" place to go for researching abroad.

I read an article recently how a researcher from Colorado came back with the ebola virus. The patient was able to recover from it (which is very rare, considering 80% of the cases are fatal). And there is no known "cure" so you can't really get vaccinated for this.

This was the first case in the United States since the outbreak in Virginia around 1990. And it's not like you can prevent yourself from catching the virus....apparently if an infected person touch a chair, and you touched that chair....then you catch it (from what I heard).

But yeah, something to look into tennis.

I believe the Reston strain is not infectious to humans only monkeys. Personally I'd be more worried about H5N1 avian flu then Ebola. Genetic shifts in the flu virus could potentially create another 1918 pandemic which was more deadly to young healthy people with strong immune systems then any other group.
