Hey,

I just got a position as a researcher as a first year undergrad within a biochemistry lab in the Chemistry department at my university. However, I may have the opportunity to research at the med school... Should I ditch chemistry and head to the med school to research there? Will adcoms see that as better and incresase my chances? I think it might but I'm not sure...

Thanks all.

Take the position that offers you greater responsibility.

Where you do research matters less than what you get out of it. Go with the one where you will play a bigger role and one that might give you a publication. If both are equal, then go with the project you are more interested in. If those are equal, then check out the people and see who you would like to work with. That's what I would do anyway.
