Research oriented residency programs

I am an MD/PhD student, currently MS3. I am interested in finding out what are the research oriented OB/Gyn residency programs out there? Thanks in advance 🙂

I am an MD/PhD student applying now for ob/gyn. I would check out Magee (Univ of Pitt), Northwestern, and Brown. They all have a lot of clinical and basic science research going on within the department. They also have great support staff dedicated to the department. I would also look at UNC and UAB (Univ of Alabama) - both are highly funded for research (UAB is currently the #2 NIH-funded ob/gyn department in the country).

I would look at University of Michigan. It's a smaller program than the other ones listed, but it has a resident doing a fast-track program into fellowship, which may be of some interest with an MD/PhD. (I know most of my IM MD/PhD friends are fast tracking!) UCSF and Brigham are also ones that are research oriented.

I'm also an MD/PhD student interviewing for OB/Gyn programs right now. In my limited experience (7 interviews so far), it seems that just about every academic program, and even some community programs, have an emphasis on research. At a minimum you're expected to do some kind of research project to be presented in the 3rd or 4th year. The focus is on clinical research, but many places even have funded basic science labs active in the department (although I'm not sure how much progress you could realistically expect to make on a lab-based project, it's nice to know that the emphasis is there).

I have been looking at the numbers of residents going into fellowships and the variety of fellowships they are going into. Research appears to be a must for getting competitive fellowships, and if a good number are going into a variety of fellowships, I figure that there must be good opportunities for a variety of research projects.
