Im looking to go into dentistry and in the section where they want you to list manual dexterity on the dental apps, would it be alright to list aseptic techniques? I have been doing research for about a year and I have worked in the tissue culture hood a lot. I have noticed my hand skills become more steady but these skills are on a macro level. Even though dentistry deals with smaller scale stuff, would I be able to list asceptic techinques for research as part of manual dexterity training? (Sorry for the long response.)

Did you work solely with immortalized cell lines?

The reason i ask is because primary cells require isolation. It would be good to mention as manual dexterity if you had to isolate these cells yourself.

For example, if you isolated lymph nodes or bone marrow from mice or brain cells from snails, etc. I think even animal model injections would be good to mention.

they ask about manual dexterity? like what have you done to improve yours?

Nice, I'm doing the same thing now with cell lines. I put something about a research project I did about tooth models I had to make for some collection experiments a while back. Overall, I think sterility is important in the TCH so you could comment on that(like making sure you don't contaminate anything, I think its tedious atleast)

yes i have worked with cell lines and it included many techniques such as not contaminating containers and such like you have said. also, i have noticed that everyday pipetting at my work has helped for manual dexterity. Also, this may be a little irrelevant, but I also play the tabla (indian drums). It involves a lot of technique mainly with the fingers as the right sound required takes a long time to learn.

Did anyone here have only research experience for helping with manual dexterity and not any dental experience as indicated on your apps? It is very hard to find dental experiences near my college.
